Divers searching for 18-year-old in Androscoggin River
xCruzo Brief
Divers from the Maine Warden Service searched Saturday morning for an 18-year-old presumed to have drowned after falling into the Androscoggin River in Lewiston. The search follows an incident the night before involving Siloe C. Irumva, a Lewiston resident, who was fishing with friends near the Gulf Island Dam on Switzerland Road. Wardens, along with Lewiston police and fire departments, had already searched Friday night using boats, along the shore, and with drones. Officials said they are dealing with fluctuating water levels in the river section between two dams. Brookfield is expected to limit water flow for only a few hours to allow divers to search, but releases will resume afterward. Friends called 911 shortly before 7:30 p.m.
