Edmonton military captain to be honoured in new Heritage Minute
xCruzo Brief
A new Heritage Minute from Historica Canada will honour Edmonton-area military leader Capt. Jonathan Snyder and his actions during the Afghanistan campaign. The filming took place over two days at CFB Wainwright, about 200 kilometres southeast of Edmonton, using a section of the base transformed to depict agricultural terrain in Afghanistan. Snyder, who served with the 1st Battalion, Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry, took part in three overseas deployments, including two to Afghanistan. The one-minute film, scheduled for release just before Remembrance Day, recounts Snyder’s role in a 2008 Taliban ambush where he is credited with saving the lives of 90 to 100 Canadian and Afghan soldiers.
