Far, Far Away
xCruzo Brief
Kelly Green crossed 1,738 miles across the South Atlantic from Cape Town aboard the 205-foot M.V. Edinburgh to reach Tristan da Cunha, a British Overseas Territory roughly halfway between Africa and South America. The trip was her first time at sea, but she never suffered seasickness. After a week, the ship anchored off Calshot Harbour near Edinburgh of the Seven Seas, where 264 residents greeted her, including her parents, Marina and Sean Burns. Sean was serving as administrator, and later Kelly returned—meeting Shane Green at the island’s pub—until she moved there in 2014, becoming the first woman in over a century to live permanently on the island.
