Final Fantasy XIV Lands on Switch 2 August 4: Pricing, Free Month, and Evercold Reveals
Final Fantasy XIV is set to launch on Switch 2 on August 4, with Square Enix confirming the date during the Fan Festival 2026 keynote in Berlin and opening Nintendo eShop pre-orders on Saturday. The game targets 30fps on the handheld mode and will include Joy-Con mouse support, while town areas may dip below 30fps due to CPU load. Square Enix says Switch 2 players must use a separate subscription, meaning existing subscribers on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox cannot share their current plan. A free first month applies to all Switch 2 players as a server stability measure. Pre-orders are live, and the estimated download size is 117 GB. The Dawntrail expansion is $39.99, with a $59.99 Collector’s Edition; the Switch 2 subscription is discounted by 50% for current subscribers, bringing it to about $7.49 monthly.
