Fishermen Shocked as a High-Flying Mako Shark Lands Right on Their Boat

A fishing charter off the coast of Whitianga, New Zealand, turned into a startling close call when a shortfin mako shark leapt from the water and landed directly on the front of a boat. The incident was captured on video by Ryan Churches, owner of Churchy’s Charters NZ, during a trip primarily focused on guiding anglers for kingfish, hapuku, bluenose, and snapper. The shark did not appear to be hooked, and while it’s unclear what triggered the jump, both the crew and the shark were unharmed. The clip quickly went viral, paired with music in the background.
