Fishing boat drug smugglers behind £6m haul - latest update
A confiscation hearing tied to a £6 million ketamine haul from a fishing boat has been adjourned until September, according to the latest court update. Three men arrested after boxes of the Class B drug were unloaded from the vessel “The Girl Carol” onto a jetty near the Ramsholt Arms on February 17, 2024, face a later hearing under the Proceeds of Crime Act. The drugs were moved by car to an industrial unit at Bentwaters Business Park before being seized. Prosecutors said the ketamine had a wholesale value of £1.4 million and a potential street value of £6 million. In April, several defendants admitted knowingly being concerned in illegal importation, with Richard Saul jailed for eight years and Sean Seymour for 50 months. On July 13, Judge Nicola Talbot-Hadley postponed the POCA matter for Labella, Saul and Seymour to September 18.
