Former Navy Commander Monsters Reform's Plan To Send Small Boat Migrants Back To France

A former Royal Navy commander criticized Reform UK’s proposal to use the military to send small-boat migrants back to France, saying the plan “starts to unravel quite quickly.” Under “Project Fortress,” Reform would create a joint military command using Royal Navy, Royal Marines, RAF and British Army units to track incoming boats and then return them to France and Belgium. Reform says it would launch “the largest military operation in the English Channel since World War Two” if it wins the next election. Tom Sharpe argued the Royal Navy lacks ships for such an operation, adding that using a warship for ferrying people would be inefficient and that France would need to agree to accept turnbacks.
