Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show: 50-plus debut vessels, over 130 superyachts and a buyer's market

The 67th Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show is expected to draw about 100,000 visitors from Wednesday through Sunday, Nov. 1, with more than 50 debut vessels and over 130 superyachts on display. The event comes amid economic pressure from energy prices and interest rates, with organizers noting recreational boaters are more selective about trip length and number. Phil Purcell, CEO/president of the Marine Industries Association of South Florida, expects attendance to again land near 100,000 and said the show supports 21,000 jobs and delivers a $9.9 billion annual economic impact in Broward County. Regionally, the figures rise to 142,000 jobs and $18.8 billion. Top yachts include Oceanco’s 305-foot Draak and Feadship’s 223-foot Lady Christine.
