General Staff: Russia has lost 1,450,510 troops in Ukraine since Feb. 24, 2022
Ukraine’s General Staff said on Aug. 3 that Russia has lost about 1,450,510 troops since the full-scale invasion began on Feb. 24, 2022. The total includes 1,390 Russian casualties reported over the past day. Ukraine also listed Russian equipment losses: 12,232 tanks, 25,075 armored combat vehicles, 129,438 vehicles and fuel tanks, 47,276 artillery systems, 1,996 multiple launch rocket systems, 1,533 air defense systems, 439 aircraft, 354 helicopters, 440,948 unmanned aerial vehicles, 2,112 unmanned ground systems, 34 ships and boats, and two submarines. Ukraine did not disclose its own losses, citing operational secrecy. Independent Western think-tank estimates generally place Russian casualties above Ukraine’s, with CSIS citing roughly 2.5:1 or 2:1.
