Germany's 2014 World Cup winners -- Where are they now? Philipp Lahm
Philipp Lahm stood as Germany’s 2014 World Cup captain, starting every match and playing every minute. The midfielder-turned-right-back shifted from defensive midfield in the group stage to the backline in the knockout rounds, shaping the defense for a title run that included two assists in the semifinal against Brazil and a clean sheet in the opener vs. Portugal. After the final, Lahm continued to captain Bayern Munich for three more seasons, adding Bundesliga titles, a Pokal, and a Supercup before retiring in 2017 and being inducted into Bayern’s Hall of Fame. Since then, he has been involved in administration and events, including EURO 2024 as tournament director, and later led the Bayern Legends in the Beckenbauer Cup, winning in 2025 and finishing on the podium in 2026. His post-playing career has encompassed varied roles, from media work to governance.
