Helena Area Reservoirs Fishing Report 8.24.26
Walleye, rainbows, and perch are all active across Montana’s Canyon Ferry, Hauser, and Holter Reservoirs this week, according to local fishing reports compiled by FWP. At Canyon Ferry, anglers are catching walleye between Confederate and Goose Bay and in areas near White Earth, Avalanche and Hellgate, using bottom bouncers with worm harnesses or slow death rigs in 20 to 30 feet, with chartreuse, purple, or white lures favored. Rapalas and jigs are also working, and perch are showing up on walleye rigs in the same zones. Rainbow fishing is strong at traditional walleye spots and the north end near Cemetary Island, plus Hellgate and between Silos and Hole in the Wall. Some smallmouth bass are appearing near Cemetary Island, while shore action for walleye and rainbows is reported at Hellgate, Duck Creek, and Beaver Creek Bay near White Earth.
