Hunters, anglers and boaters slapped with new fees up to $630 from October 1

Virginia outdoorsmen face higher prices starting October 1, with some hunting, fishing and boating licenses rising by as much as $630. The Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources says the increases are needed due to higher operating costs. Boating fees haven’t been raised since 2019, and hunting, trapping and fishing licenses have not increased since 2012. All boating fees will go up by $5, and a new temporary registration fee of $15 will be added. The department also raised resident permits by $5 and nonresident licenses by $50, the legal maximum. The nonresident lifetime hunting permit is now $630.
