India targeting $1 trillion exports in 2026-27: Piyush Goyal
India is targeting $1 trillion in exports in the 2026–27 financial year, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said on Friday. Speaking at a Board of Trade meeting in New Delhi, he set a forecast of double-digit growth from $863 billion in 2025–26, with merchandise exports expected to rise 17% to about $530 billion. Services exports are projected to increase by around 11% to nearly $470 billion, with services rising from $421 billion to almost that level. Goyal said figures through June show India is “well on track” and urged exporters and industry leaders to work collectively to avoid missing the trillion-dollar milestone. He linked the opportunity to India’s growing strategic and economic importance, and emphasized that success requires quality, specialized skills, brand building and overseas customer outreach. He also cited trade agreements: the Oman FTA became operational on June 1, and the India–UK deal is expected to enter into force by July 15.
