Jerry Sandusky accuser expected to recant abuse claim

A judge has scheduled an evidentiary hearing for Sept. 8 in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania, after court filings say one of Jerry Sandusky’s accusers may recant testimony in the case. Sandusky, 82, is serving a 30-to-60-year prison sentence following a 2012 conviction on 45 counts of sexual abuse involving multiple boys. ABC News reported the planned recantation. In an affidavit filed by Sandusky’s attorneys, a man identified as R.R. claims prosecutors coached him, telling him trauma could have fragmented his memory and that he could “safely” affirm details he did not fully recall. Sandusky has consistently maintained his innocence.
