Jewish Democrats abandon El-Sayed for GOP rival in all-important battleground state

More than 400 Jewish Democrats in Michigan are backing Republican Senate candidate Mike Rogers and abandoning Abdul El-Sayed, citing fears of antisemitism and concerns about community safety within the Democratic Party. A letter signed by prominent donors and leaders, including O2 Investments senior advisor Rob Orley, warns that if El-Sayed wins in this swing state, far-left and “anti-Jewish elements” could gain dominance, including in the run-up to the 2028 presidential race. The signatories include Robert Gordon of Temple Israel and others from across the community. Former Rep. Andy Levin, however, says the opposition is a minority view and alleges AIPAC is driving the effort.
