Joe Milton Left Cowboys for Eagles With Starting Job in His Sights
Philadelphia is set to get Joe Milton as the backup quarterback option as the Eagles manage Jalen Hurts’ injury absence. With Hurts out indefinitely due to pulmonary blood clots, Philadelphia signed Milton off the Dallas Cowboys practice squad and added him to the 53-man roster before Week 6 against Carolina. Tanner McKee remains the starter for now, with Milton joining the quarterback room alongside rookie fifth-round pick Cole Payton. Milton’s move comes after he was on Dallas’ practice squad, but he quickly accepted the opportunity when Philadelphia reached out while Hurts was still trending toward injured reserve. The 6-foot-5 Michigan product says he prayed for Hurts and is focused on learning the offense, describing his approach as “plug in and play.” The Cowboys visit Lincoln Financial Field on Monday Night Football.
