Kalen DeBoer Says Both Right Tackle Candidates 'Had Great Summers'

Alabama offensive line coach Kalen DeBoer said both right tackle candidates had “great summers” as the Crimson Tide heads into the 2026 season. The program is still searching for a replacement for JC Latham, who the Tennessee Titans drafted seventh overall in the 2024 NFL Draft. DeBoer described the current competition as ongoing entering fall camp, with spring leader Jayvin James from Mississippi State and sophomore Nick Brooks from Texas trying to win the job. James started nine games for the Bulldogs, allowing three sacks in 856 snaps. Brooks made five appearances for the Longhorns with three starts. DeBoer said he’s focused on consistency and wants to review film as pads come on.
