Kayem Foods Recalls About 1.6 Million of Meat Products Due to Temperature Issues
xCruzo Brief
Kayem Foods is voluntarily recalling about 1.6 million pounds of meat products after storage temperature deviations during distribution, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS). The recall notice includes items such as Al Fresco chicken sausages, Kayem hot dogs and bacon, and McKenzie ham and turkey. FSIS said there have been no confirmed reports of illness. The problem was identified after a retail customer complaint on Oct. 1 about warm product temperatures at the point of delivery. Kayem attributed the issue to a malfunction in a warehouse cooling system and said it has corrected the temperature deviations.
