Largest catch ever on East Coast? See the 1,260-pound fish 'of a lifetime'

Anglers Damon Sacco and Walter Chapman landed what they and others believe is the largest Atlantic blue marlin ever caught off the U.S. East Coast. The fish was brought ashore in Falmouth, Massachusetts, on Wednesday after a roughly three-hour fight on rod and reel. Weighing 1,260 pounds and measuring more than 11 feet, the marlin was 142 pounds short of the 1992 world record set off Brazil, according to International Game Fish Association records. The catch came about 100 miles off Cape Cod near Atlantis Canyon. University of Maine researchers said the cold Northeast waters make such wins rare.
