Lbs of bacon recalled in 3 states: USDA declares highest-risk level

More than 12,000 pounds of bacon are being recalled after U.S. regulators said the product entered the country from Canada without required import reinspection. The USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) issued an alert on Friday, July 24, classifying the recall as Class I—the highest risk level—because there is a reasonable probability the product could cause serious health consequences or death. Maple Leaf Foods, Inc. in Lisle, Illinois, is recalling about 12,036 pounds of not-ready-to-eat (NRTE) smoked bacon. Production dates included June 9, 10, 12, 13, and 15, 2026. The bacon was distributed in Idaho, Oregon, and Washington, and no injuries were reported. Consumers should stop eating it and discard or return it.
