Lewiston teen's body found in river after he fell while fishing with friends
Lewiston teen's body found in river after he fell while fishing with friends reports the recovery of an 18-year-old after an accident on the Androscoggin River. Authorities found the body of Siloe Irumva on Saturday afternoon, following his fall the previous evening while fishing with friends. The Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife said he was fishing near the Gulf Island Dam on Switzerland Road when he slipped on a rock and fell into the water around 7:30 p.m., while trying to free a lure tangled in a tree branch. Search efforts resumed after 10 a.m. on Saturday, involving divers using an underwater camera, drones, and ground crews along the shoreline, though the area is between two dams and complicated recovery. Brookfield Renewable, operator of the Gulf Island Dam, temporarily reduced water flow to assist. NBC10 Boston affiliate News Center Maine reported that friends and family gathered for the search. Officials said those who knew Irumva described him as a kind young man loved in Lewiston.
