Live coverage as more than 40 tall ships sail Hudson River for July 4
More than 40 tall ships are set to sail up the Hudson River for July 4, highlighting Sail4th 250’s international spectacle. The ship parade will feature 41 vessels from 21 countries, returning to a historic route chosen in March 2024 for its significance and protected harbor conditions at the Port of New York and New Jersey. Organizers also issued a public safety advisory at 3:04 p.m. on July 3, citing National Weather Service guidance that “feels like” temperatures could exceed 105 degrees Fahrenheit during the sold-out event at Governors Island. Tickets were priced at no less than $200 for ferry rides to and from the 172-acre island, about 800 yards from Lower Manhattan, and for seats in a dedicated viewing section. Among the participants is America 2.0, a black-hulled schooner that can carry up to 85 guests and sails in New York Harbor from June through October and in Key West from November through May.
