Locally-based artists display skills at popular summer exhibition

A summer exhibition at Bingley Gallery is showcasing both regional-established artists and newcomers, offering an open platform with no fixed themes. The piece of local art coverage highlights several featured exhibitors, including Nigerian-born, Bradford-based Lateefat Tobrun. With a background in economics and AI, she now works mainly in clothing and textile design, drawing on a family tradition of painting to create personal works. Her three textile pieces explore migration and identity as an ongoing journey, using African wax prints and layered construction to move from carried weight to repair, renewal and growth. Other first-time exhibitor Tamara Lawson returns to painting full-time, inspired by Ilkley’s moorland and cloud patterns.
