Los Angeles deputy helps save cat rescued from burning van
A Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy is credited with helping save a cat after it was found unconscious following a van fire in Marina del Rey over the weekend. The incident occurred around 11 a.m. Sunday in the 14100 block area, after smoke was reported, according to a post from the Sheriff’s Department on Facebook. Deputy Lopez arrived to find the cat unresponsive in the parking lot after firefighters rescued it from the smoke-filled vehicle. While fire crews continued extinguishing flames and searching inside the van, Lopez requested oxygen and began administering first aid to the animal. After the fire was out, firefighters joined the rescue effort. The post says the cat regained consciousness shortly afterward, was taken to a nearby veterinary facility, and was later reunited with its owner.
