Majestic ships fill New York Harbor for Sail4th 250 parade
New York Harbor will host the Sail4th 250 parade on Saturday as part of the U.S. nation’s 250th anniversary celebrations. The event will bring more than 30 tall ships from around the world to the Hudson River, described as the largest-ever flotilla. PIX11 will broadcast the parade beginning at 10 a.m., while the sailors parade the ships from the Verrazzano Bridge to the George Washington Bridge starting at 9:30 a.m. A formation of U.S. and international aircraft led by the Blue Angels will fly over the Verrazzano Bridge from 10:15 a.m. After sailing through, the ships will anchor at Brooklyn Bridge Park, The Intrepid, Manhattan Cruise Terminal, South Street Seaport, and Staten Island Waterfront Park for free public viewings from July 5 to July 7 between 12 p.m. and 6 p.m. Among them is the 295-foot U.S. Coast Guard Cutter EAGLE, “America’s Tall Ship,” active since 1946 and the only active square-rigger in U.S. government service.
