Mary Parish Alligator Hunters Document The Reality Of Swamp Work As 3 Million Gators Roam Louisiana Waters
xCruzo Brief
Louisiana’s alligator numbers are climbing, and a new recreational season is being opened as the state estimates there are now more than 3 million alligators across its waters. The update is illustrated by the Landry family in St. Mary Parish, known from “Swamp People.” Their social media page, Da Landry Life, documented a recent trip where a massive alligator bit their boat and became entangled, then escaped from the part that propels the craft. While the Landrys didn’t harvest that animal, the family appeared to take note of where it was located. Louisiana’s hunting season runs from late August or early September through the end of the year, and the recreational season runs from October 1 to October 31.
