Massachusetts launches $4.2 million push for offshore wind workers, marine research

Massachusetts has launched a $4.2 million effort aimed at training residents for offshore wind and maritime careers while funding marine research tied to the buildout’s impacts. Announced last week by Gov. Maura Healey and the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center, the money flows through two MassCEC programs: about $1.7 million for Offshore Wind Works and roughly $2.4 million for Offshore Wind Science, Research, and Analysis. The workforce component is designed to help people qualify for roles in construction, vessel operations, logistics, and maintenance. The research funding will study wildlife, fisheries, and broader ocean conditions as projects expand along the East Coast.
