Mayor Mamdani announces 70,000 free Met Opera tickets for NYC residents

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani announced “Opera for All,” a program that will make 70,000 free Metropolitan Opera tickets available to NYC residents via a lottery. The Met will release 10,000 tickets each month during the 2026-27 season, starting this month, which the mayor’s office said is about 10% of all season tickets. Residents can enter online or through the Met app. To be eligible, people must be NYC residents and have not purchased a Met Opera ticket since 2019. Mamdani said the goal is to broaden access. Performances include “Macbeth,” “Lincoln in the Bardo” and “La Bohème.”
