Metra launches art contest for kids to create a safety superhero

Metra has launched its “Make Your Safety Superhero” contest for students participating in the commuter rail agency’s 20th annual safety competition. Kids in kindergarten through fourth grade will submit a hand-drawn poster, while students in fifth through 12th grade can submit either hand-drawn or digital artwork. Entries will be judged in separate categories by grade band. The first-place winner earns a $500 Amazon gift card and will be featured in Metra’s 2027 safety calendar, along with weekend and holiday day passes. Second and third place win $250 and $100, respectively. A regional People’s Choice winner is selected from 13 regions, each also receiving a $500 Amazon gift card and appearing in Metra promotional materials. Submissions are due by 11:59 p.m. Feb. 12, 2027.
