Military investigates after Russian warship fires warning shots at yacht in the Channel

A Russian warship fired warning shots at a UK-registered pleasure yacht in the English Channel about 23 miles south of the Isle of Wight, with no injuries or damage reported. The yacht, reportedly sailing in fog and with no motor, drifted toward the Admiral Grigorovich as it passed through or near UK waters, while HMS Mersey shadowed the vessel. The Russian Ministry said the crew tried to contact the yacht and fired warning shots after distance closed to 150 meters, then the yacht altered course and continued. Britain’s Defence Ministry said it is investigating the incident.
