Moscow airports structure consolidates further as Vnukovo takes stake in Domodedovo owner, extending a takeover-driven push to streamline the capital’s aviation hub. Sheremetyevo’s wholly owned subsidiary Perspektiva acquired Domodedovo during a state auction earlier this year, with Sheremetyevo purchasing the airport for Rb141 billion ($210 million), including Rb66 billion for the acquisition and Rb75 billion in debt obligations. Vnukovo airport’s operator then plans a cash contribution of Rb16.5 billion to become a significant shareholder in Perspektiva, targeting just over a 25% stake. Vnukovo chair Vitaly Vantsev said the aim is to improve efficiency and service levels for passengers and airlines through flexible cooperation. Sheremetyevo operator general director Mikhail Vasilenko described Domodedovo as complex with chronic problems, high risks, substantial debt, and losses, outlining plans to build an organization, use import-substituted technologies, and create a unified budget to reduce costs and raise earnings.
