MSU hoops reportedly showing interest in quickly rising, elite SF prospect
Michigan State basketball has reportedly begun showing interest in a fast-rising elite wing prospect in the 2027 class, according to a report cited by Sam Kayser of League Ready. The prospect is Asa Montgomery, a near five-star small forward from Powder Springs, Georgia, observed by multiple programs on Friday, including Michigan State, Duke, North Carolina, Kentucky, UConn, Arizona, Auburn, Louisville, Houston, LSU, Alabama, Florida, Providence, Rutgers and Xavier. Montgomery is listed as a four-star recruit with a 98.94 recruiting rating in 247Sports’ composite system. He ranks as the No. 8 small forward and No. 29 overall prospect for 2027 in the 247Sports composite. The report says Michigan State has not yet extended an offer, though notable offers already listed for Montgomery include Auburn, Georgia, Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Houston, LSU, North Carolina, Ole Miss, Rutgers, Texas A&M and Texas Tech.
