Netball champions 'excited' by Oldham SportsTown plan

Manchester Thunder’s Karen Greig says a new “SportsTown” sports campus linked to Oldham’s Mayoral Development Corporation plan has caught the reigning Netball Super League champions’ attention. Oldham’s newly approved mayoral development body is expected to help deliver the proposed hub focused on health, sport and education, including a 3,000-seat arena where Manchester Thunder could play. Greig described a lack of facilities as one of the sport’s biggest barriers and said the prospect of a local, modern home venue—potentially for matches in a new arena—has generated genuine excitement. She framed it as an opportunity to overcome the infrastructure gap facing netball at the top level.
