New album on the way, as U2 return with 'Street Of Dreams'
U2 has returned with a new single, “Street Of Dreams,” along with a music video shot in Mexico City. The track is produced by Jacknife Lee and is the first song drawn from a studio album that is not yet announced, but expected to be released later this year—its first in nine years. The band filmed the video near Plaza Santo Domingo in May, attracting a large crowd despite adverse weather; the thunder and rain reportedly caused a generator to crash, and a local family welcomed the members into their apartment to continue shooting from a balcony. The single arrives about three months after U2’s surprise release of “Easter Lily,” a six-track companion EP to February’s “Days Of Ash.” U2 also marked another milestone: in September they will celebrate 50 years since their formation. The article notes that U2 has sold 175 million albums, released 15 studio records, and won 22 Grammys, with awards including an Amnesty International Ambassador of Conscience.
