New MSP promises to champion fishing, farming and offshore sectors 'at every turn'
James Adams was sworn into the Scottish Parliament and pledged to advocate for fishing, farming, and the offshore oil and gas sector “at every turn.” The new MSP, representing the North East region, won the Banffshire and Buchan Conservative seat in the Holyrood side and takes up the list MSP role after Douglas Lumsden’s decisive victory in last week’s Aberdeen South by-election. Lumsden became MP for Aberdeen South after defeating the SNP by more than 6,000 votes. Adams, 33, was born in Fraserburgh, served as a town councillor from 2022, previously worked for the NHS, and is also a director at Fraserburgh Football Club. He said rural communities in the north-east face challenges under the SNP government, and highlighted priorities including funding for NHS Grampian, infrastructure upgrades such as the A90 and A96, and restoring the Buchan railway.
