Memaw' celebrates turning 100 with family in Gotha

Memaw, a Central Florida matriarch known to family as Memaw, will celebrate turning 100 on June 5 with a private family gathering in Gotha on June 6. Born in Dixie, West Virginia, she attended Nicholas County High School, played flute in the school band, and later studied at Marshall University. Her career included teaching and serving as a children's manager at Lerners Clothing Stores in Charleston, West Virginia and Bristol, Tennessee. She lived in Orlando near Colonial Plaza before moving to the Butler Chain of Lakes on Lake Sheen, where she and her husband Bill raised two children over 63 years of marriage.
