Coast Guard searching for overdue boater off Oʻahu | Maui Now

The Coast Guard is searching for a 61-year-old boater overdue west of Oʻahu after a fishing trip. A good Samaritan found a partially sunken 19-foot vessel with a white hull, pink trim, and twin outboard engines about 18 miles west of Waiʻanae at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, May 24, 2026, and towed it to Waiʻanae Small Boat Harbor. Friends of the missing man confirmed the vessel was his, and search crews continued efforts to locate him. Assets deployed include HC-130 Hercules and MH-65 Dolphin aircraft, a 45-foot Response Boat-Medium, USCGC Joseph Gerczak, and a Navy P-8 Poseidon aircraft, with further assistance as needed.
