Sea rescue after man significantly injured on boat

A mid-sea rescue followed a mayday from a yacht about 25 miles west of Alderney on Friday around 11:50 BST, after a man on board reportedly fell and may have a serious underlying condition. Alderney’s all-weather lifeboat and a French rescue helicopter were involved, supported by another nearby vessel, to move the casualty to Guernsey for hospital treatment. The man was later reported in a stable condition undergoing further tests, and other crew members were also taken to hospital. duty SAR mission coordinator Simon Granger praised the coordinated multi-agency response for delivering care as quickly as possible, highlighting effective collaboration among maritime rescue services.
