Nordspace signs $20-million deal with National Defence for rocket launch pad in N.L.
Nordspace says it has signed a $20-million, 10-year contract with Canada’s Department of National Defence to support rocket-launch pad access at its Atlantic Spaceport Complex on Newfoundland’s Burin Peninsula. The agreement, the company said, gives the federal department priority use of a dedicated launch pad that is currently under construction, with funding intended to cover maintenance and keeping the facility ready for launches. Nordspace said individual missions will be handled through separate contracts. The spaceport’s second construction phase in St. Lawrence, N.L., was announced last week. Nordspace’s Terra Nova satellite was launched earlier this month by SpaceX from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California. The Canadian government linked the deal to $3 billion in 2026 investments.
