Not eat': Warning issued after salmonella identified in imported eggs
xCruzo Brief
Food Standards Scotland (FSS) and the UK Food Standards Agency (FSA) issued a “do not eat” warning after Salmonella was found in certain eggs imported from Ukraine. The eggs come from Yasensvit Ltd in Kyiv and are stamped with code 3UA1012066 printed directly on the shell. They may have been supplied to catering businesses or sold through smaller retail outlets, and could also have been repacked in the UK and sold under different labeling, making the stamp code the most reliable identifier. UK Health Security Agency testing detected Salmonella Enteritidis and whole-genome sequencing showed the strain did not match current outbreak strains. Consumers are told to dispose of affected eggs, and businesses must stop selling or using them.
