NYC eatery spews raw sewage into park's fishing, boating lake -- and officials don't care: whistleblower

A whistleblower told The Post that people in Staten Island have been fishing and boating for more than 20 years in Clove Lake, a park lake allegedly polluted with human feces from a broken sewer line at a nearby restaurant. The State Department of Environmental Conservation confirmed it is investigating a “potential sewage discharge” after a dye test by the city Department of Environmental Protection on Tuesday showed both red and green dye entering the lake from the sewer system connected to The Stone House. The DEC and DEP did not provide fecal coliform test results, and it remains unclear if the lake has been tested for bacteria linked to human waste. The restaurant’s licensing agreement cited repairs, including 200,000 dollars allocated for repairs, and an amendment acknowledged a collapsed sewer line.
