Obituary: David L. Berntsen

David L. Berntsen, 66, died unexpectedly on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at his home in Wayne, Maine. Born April 21, 1960, in Ogden, Utah, he later graduated from South Mountain High School in Phoenix, Arizona, where he completed four years of ROTC training. Berntsen served in the U.S. Army as an Airborne Ranger and in the Special Forces Division, also working as an Expert Marksman and Ranger Instructor, retiring after 20 years. He married WS Olivia Davis (Wendy S. Davis) in Portland, Maine, on Sept. 12, 2017. After military service, he worked as an IT Specialist and System Administrative Engineer. Active in veterans organizations including the American Legion, he enjoyed outdoor pursuits such as hunting, ATV riding, woodworking, chess and cards. He is survived by his mother, wife, daughter, and multiple sons and their spouses.
