Nancy Jewett Pawle died peacefully on July 1, 2026, with family by her side in San Francisco, California, according to her obituary. Born Feb. 5, 1929, in Boston, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of Reginald Brooks Pawle and Mary Jewett Pawle of Lowell, Massachusetts. Her schooling at Walnut Hill School is described as influential in shaping her life, where she met lifelong friend Frederica “Carmen” Mendoza Stevens. In 1951, the friends relocated to San Francisco, and Pawle later worked for Prudential Insurance for nearly 20 years before retiring in 1991. The obituary says she was an avid traveler who kept close ties to the East Coast and remained especially close to her niece Emily. She is survived by multiple nieces, nephews, and cousins, and was predeceased by her parents and brother, Robert H. Pawle. A private burial and celebration of life will take place later.
