Philippine rescuers pull more victims from charred ferry

Philippine coast guard and rescue teams recovered 41 more bodies from the M/V June Aster on Sunday as families of victims waited near the grounded ferry in Coron, Palawan. The death toll from the fire and explosion that ripped through the roll-on/roll-off vessel “in seconds” rose to 76 confirmed dead, with nearly all of the victims found aboard. A 24-year-old ferry, it was carrying vacationers, businesspeople and families when it caught fire after an explosion in its hold. Officials said 30 passengers— including two Chileans— and 13 crew were rescued, while about 13 people remain missing.
