Pizza plays key role in seagull rescue

On Sept. 27, a seagull tangled in fishing tackle received an unusual rescue after a couple used pizza to gain the bird’s trust. Shaquile Simpson stepped in to free the distressed gull, while his wife, Cloey A. Stiers, recorded video of him approaching carefully and removing the fishing line wrapped around the bird. With her help, Simpson then took out a hook lodged in the seagull’s beak. The operation relied on patience and steady hands as the couple worked together to avoid further harm. Stiers said she was “shocked,” and that she couldn’t have stayed as calm without her husband.
