Police say 3 children killed in Wisconsin capsize found in sunken boat
Police say 3 children killed in Wisconsin capsize found in sunken boat highlights a fatal rescue outcome after a severe storm overwhelmed a small vessel on Geneva Lake. Authorities said the three missing girls were located inside the sunken private 25-foot boat, which had descended to a depth of 32 feet. The incident occurred on Friday, July 7, when a sudden storm hit Walworth County around 12:18 p.m. CDT with winds reported between 90 and 100 mph. Six adults and four children were aboard; all adults and one child were rescued. The victims, identified Monday by the Lake Geneva Police Department, were girls aged 6, 7 and 10. Divers recovered the children and emergency personnel performed lifesaving measures, but all three were pronounced deceased. Police said the preliminary cause is consistent with freshwater drowning and that preliminary medical information reported no external injuries.
