Pound Blue Marlin Caught off San Diego Coast Breaks State Fishing Record

A 648-pound blue marlin caught off the coast of San Diego has broken the state fishing record for the location, according to a sports fishing charter’s weigh-in at Fisherman’s Landing. The catch arrived at the docks earlier this week after captain Alec Stockfelt, 32, led a group of anglers out on a 65-foot boat. Once hoisted onto the scale, it became the heaviest fish ever weighed at Fisherman’s Landing, surpassing the previous mark of about 598 pounds set at the site. The report notes the record depends on verification and that the prior blue marlin sports-fishing record at San Diego was 395 pounds in 2021.
