Quang Ninh launches traditional three-panel sailboat tour on Ha Long Bay
Quang Ninh is launching a traditional three-panel sailboat tour on Ha Long Bay, adding a new cultural experience to the UNESCO World Heritage site. The service began June 29 in Hong Gai ward, running from the Bai Tho Bridge area to the Quang Ninh Museum-Library. Boats depart from the Ha Long 1 Passenger Wharf. The project is jointly organised by the Quang Ninh Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and a consortium of local businesses. The initial fleet includes six reconstructed sailboats built from historical designs by veteran boatbuilder Le Duc Chan. The hull uses three joined sections and carries two batwing-shaped sails for maneuvering against wind. Artisan Le Duc Chan said the restoration preserves maritime heritage and supports traditional craftsmanship, while officials said it will diversify visitor experiences and create local livelihood opportunities.
