Rich Rod Talks 1st Day of Camp, Roster Spots, QB Plan, Low Expectations + More

West Virginia head coach Rich Rodriguez’s first fall-camp practice and his opening press conference are in the books, and he said roster movement is on hold for now. Rodriguez noted the NCAA is appealing a potential rule on adding players with a fifth year of eligibility, so the staff is researching eligibility but “not adding anybody right now,” with a possible change “24 hours from now.” He described day one as decent but not ready to sustain intensity for 20 straight periods without mental lapses. Rodriguez said outside expectations are low and hopes that becomes motivation, but discipline is the real priority. He also outlined a QB plan with limited live reps and more scrutiny during scrimmages.
