San Francisco Bay’s Alcatraz-area sinking highlights the risks of rough-water boating as authorities identify the man who died and continue looking for others. The incident occurred Tuesday when a triple-decker pontoon boat carrying 20 people capsized in rough waters about 600 yards from Alcatraz Island. One passenger pulled from the water received CPR aboard a rescue boat, was taken to shore, and later was pronounced dead. The San Francisco Office of the Chief Medical Examiner identified the victim as Clifford Joseph Boisa, 79, of Sutter County. On Wednesday, crews were still searching for three missing passengers. San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie said the San Francisco Fire Department and U.S. Coast Guard teams are using thermal imaging and tide prediction. Authorities reported 13 passengers reached shore and three others went to hospital in stable condition with impact injuries. Multiple agencies and private vessels assisted as the rescue operation started around 3:30 p.m.
